Queens of the Diamond: Checking the Sign

Checking the Sign” is the eighth image in my “Queens of the Diamond” summer series. here the batter is watching the third base coach as they relay the signs for the next pitch. Anyone who has played baseball or softball will recognize this ritual that takes place before every pitch. Is the batter taking a pitch, bunting, is it a hit and run, or is the runner going to steal. This is all important information and it keeps everyone on the same page. Missing a sign could lead to disaster for the team at bat.

Sports photography is not my forte but I have set out to capture some special moments for my daughter’s fastpitch team. I will post some of the best images here on Greg’s Blog throughout the summer. I hope you decide to follow along as I chronicle the girls’ journey while expanding my photographic range. I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
