I’d drive a thousand miles
Just to hold you for awhile
I’d crawl across the scorching desert
To bask in the warmth of your sun-soaked skin
I’d sail the waves of a raging sea
To taste the wet upon your lips
I’d walk headlong into a prairie wind
To feel your golden hair sweep across my face
I’d climb the highest mountain
To breathe the rarest of air across your neck
I’d vanish into the tangled jungle
To discover your hidden secrets
I’d brave the wildest arctic blizzard
To feel the coldness of your wrath
I’d traverse the expanse of heaven
To bear the pain of losing you
I’d drive a thousand miles
Just to hold you for awhile

That’s some pretty seductive couplets you’ve penned there, Greg.

Thanks Hobbo. It’s actually a piece I wrote some 25 odd years ago. I happened to come across an old MS Word document with poems written from age 18 through 35. Of course only the identical opening and closing couplets survived the 2022 revision intact.

Whatever its history or pedigree, I did enjoy it.
