Welcome to another edition of T-Shirt Wisdom Wednesday. This hump day feature is precisely what it sounds like. Every other Wednesday (bi-weekly) I will post a graphic that is funny, poignant, witty, honest, crude, toothsome, with bite, or plain old ridiculous. Some I’ll have plagiarized directly from a chest near you. Others may not have been spotted in the wild but should be out there.

Every year Canadians celebrate the British Sovereign’s birthday on the Monday before May 25th. I know the indigenous peoples of this country (and many other Canadians) would like to forget the British Empire’s contributions to Canada and its history. I’m not suggesting there wasn’t some pain and hardship created along the way. Like any conquered nation the transition of power is not always fair or just. I acknowledge the ways of the conquered were marginalized sometimes with brutal effect.
Canada’s history is entwined with British colonialism from the Plains of Abraham to the last spike completing the Canadian Pacific Railway. As much as the world wants to erase the colonial era, many of the places the British conquered, including Canada and the United States are the places people of the world dream of living. They migrate to countries once ruled by the British because of the free and open societies they were instrumental in building.
In Canada, Victoria Day or the May two-four weekend, as it is known colloquially because a case of beer holds 24, has become the unofficial start of the short Canadian summer. Getting away to a camp or opening the cottage is an annual rite of passage for many Canadians. To be honest, getting away into the wild with nobody except family or a few close friends sounds like a wonderful idea.
